Batteries and Dollar Bills Not Included: A Pole Dancing Doll?

by admin on Sep.14, 2009, under Featured

(DailyNews) First Hannah Montana performed her new single “Party in the USA” while pole dancing from atop an ice cream cart and now an Internet photo of an alleged new toy for girls has parents in an uproar – “Pole Dance,” a doll that, basically, dances around a pole. Like a stripper.

The box for the toy depicts an angelic, brunette doll in a shiny green dress, clutching a pole with a disco ball on top while standing on a small stage that says “Pole Dancer”. The simple graphics on the box include the words “Style,” “Flash” “Up and Down” “Go Round and Round” and “Music.”

Pole Dancing Doll

No one has found further information about the product online, but that hasn’t stopped a swarm of negative commentary from blogs and news organizations. Whether it’s real or not, posters on parenting Web site ParentDish.com were upset over the suggestive doll sending a horrible message to young girls, especially after the recent performance of Hannah Montana. Parents are starting to wonder what type of example mainstream media is setting for young girls lately with Pole Dancing becoming so popular.

Looking at what is currently on television this doll is childs play (no pun intended), mainstream media has always pushed the sex sales motto whether it is a Calvin Klein ad or a Barbie. We as a society have promoted that woman have to look a certain way and have to be attractive by wearing certain clothing, hair being a certain length or color, body having to be a certain shape and have to behave in a certain way to attain everything that is good in life. Fact of the matter is that toys have always been covertly sexual and pushing a certain message……Barbie had the perfect body and was looking for the perfect man (Ken) to give her a dream house and a nice corvette. Even children’s movies have hidden sexual innuendos such as the sex found in the scene of the Lion King as well and other adult content that is believed to be subliminal messaging only noticeable to adults and not the children who is the movie’s target audience or so parents would think.

If parents are going to be upset about the overtly sexual toys, television shows, songs, etc. that are being promoted they should be irate about the covert and subliminal messages that are being shown to our kids or accept that these types of influences are out there and just don’t buy their children the Pole Dancing Doll at Christmas this year.

NeNe of Real Housewive’s of Atlanta a Stripper?

by admin on Sep.08, 2009, under Featured

Derek Blanks an Atlanta-based celebrity photographer known for his infamous Alter Ego portraits of Kim Porter, Amerie and Eva Pigford of America’s Next Top Model was recently recruited by Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta to do an Alter Ego shoot of the cast.

The Alter Ego shoot was something NeNe was planning to do with photographer Derek Blanks. During her meeting, Derek and NeNe came up with the idea to invite all the ladies to join in on the shoot and NeNe opted to be the Director and chose all of the roles that each one of the ladies will be playing and chose to be a stripper as her alter ego.

In last weeks episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta NeNe was seen stripping down and doing a pole dance for the camera. When Nene informed her husband Gregg about the shoot he joked with his wife, in her alter ego stripper costume, that he had to “go by the bank so I can make it rain?” Nene’s shoot concluded with Gregg saying that she looked stunning. “But you have to understand,” “Nene strips for me every night and I strip for her too.”

NeNe Leakes

Nene Leakes reveals her stripping past in her upcoming autobiography “Never Make the Same Mistake Twice,” The New York Daily News’ Gatecrasher reported. “Yes, I was a stripper – let the judgments ensue. I’m not ashamed,” Nene writes in her book. “[I stripped] for the sake of my son, and to restore my confidence in myself… My son was in private school, his father wasn’t chipping in for pull-ups or food, I had no job and no money coming in, the rent was past due, and the super told me and my roommate that our condo owner was about to put us out. It was about survival.”

NeNe leaks Autobiography

I love how this couple can joke about stripping for each other, there is nothing taboo about stripping especially when it is with the one you love. I also give NeNe much respect for revealing in her new book about her past as a stripper and going into the reasoning as to why she did it. Her Story is similar to that of Crystal one of the characters from The Night Trade and her struggle with supporting herself and her newborn child.

Looks like we have another recruit for The Ranch.  Check out the video below of NeNe’s pole dancing on the show…….Enjoy!

by admin on Sep.05, 2009, under Featured

In a promotion for “The Ultimate Pole Dance Competition” to be held in New York City this October, there were pole dancers, working bicycle carted-poles, circling midtown Manhattan on Wednesday.Source

Several women displayed the amount of strength, flexibility, endurance, athletic training and skill that it takes to be a pole dancer and on top of that (no pun intended) they are straddling a pole that is in motion.

No Stripping or Tipping: Pole Dancing in the 2012 Olympics?

by admin on Sep.03, 2009, under Featured

A new form of fitness is currently being considered for inclusion among the sports at the Olympic Games. Pole Dancing became a fitness trend about 3 years ago and is now taught in over 200 studios in over 50 countries. In the US. there are over 500 competitive pole dancers and the sport is now regularly indulged in by cookie-baking, church-going, PTA presidents and soccer moms around the country and is remarkably acrobatic and difficult to do.

100,000 of individuals from around the world have joined the initiative to help Pole Dancing become a sport in the Olympics. There are several Facebook groups with a petition in which thousands have joined and many Pole Fitness Instructors are hoping that they will be able to educate individuals through these various venues and hope that it will help remove the stigma attached to pole dance.

Pole vaulting, swimming and gymnastics are among the usual sports at play during the summer Olympic games, and an army of pole dancers are leading the charge to get their activity added to the lineup.

Pole dance instructor KT Coates thinks the discipline should be on a par with rhythmic gymnastics and figure skating, he 32-year-old has started an online petition for people who want to see pole dancing – or ‘vertical pole’ – recognized as a competitive sport.

The fact of the matter is that Pole Dancing is a form of performing art, that is a combination of dancing and gymnastics and requires a tremendous amount of strength, flexibility, endurance and athletic training. There are currently different studios that are having Pole Dancing competitions, in fact in October there is an Ultimate Pole Dance Competition to be held in New York City showing that Pole Dancing is already considered a sport.

Below is a video of some of the individuals who are fighting to help people realize that Pole Dancing is a Competitive Sport and should be considered for the Olympics.

There are many questions that are being asked in regards to the sport and how the rules and regulations will apply if the sport is added to the roster, for example.

How do athletes plan to get around the seductiveness of the sport without getting the judges all hot and bothered?

And what about the uniform will they be wearing short shorts, stilettos, etc.?

And then there’s the moves themselves who will determine the difficulty level, will it be done in the same manner as Gymnastic where you can actually see the form and movement of each dancer or will it be more sexy?

Maybe the Committee will see past all of this, The judges do always seem a bit bored anyway not much going on during volleyball, diving, gymnastics, etc.

What do you think, Should Pole Dancing be considered as a Competitive Sport or Should it be left in the Strip  Clubs?

If pole dancing does make it as an olympic sport what do you think the winners of the Gold will do on the podium?
